San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones was recently part of the Tight End University event, a three-day NFL offseason summit. This was founded by Jones' 49ers teammate George Kittle, Travis Kelce, and Greg Olsen in 2021.
During the ongoing event, NBC reporter Jennifer Lee Chan caught up with Jones, where he talked about the 49ers' influence on his life.
"It's great. I love them," said Jones. "It's a great organization, and I know it's going to help me on my future off the field, on the field, every game. So, I'm excited that I got that year and looking forward to just taking it day by day from here on out."

Jones' interview at @NBC Sports Bay Area & California clearly showed his affinity for the organization.
Jones did have a solid 2025 season despite the limited appearances. He made over 2,000 yards and 13 TDs in 11 games.
His playtime came as he filled in for fellow quarterback Brock Purdy when the latter missed time. Jones even went 5-3 as the 49ers' temporary QB1. He became a valuable depth piece for the 49ers.
His near 70% completion rate in passes will surely give him hope ahead of the season.
According to Sportrac, Jones signed a 2-year, $8,410,000 contract with the San Francisco 49ers in 2025. That includes a $2,140,000 signing bonus, $4,750,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $4,205,000.
His base salary in 2026 is expected to be around $1,400,000. So he is doing well financially, too, in addition to his professional development.
Furthermore, his close bond with fellow quarterback Purdy is also another reason that can help San Francisco find success in the 2026 season.
Brock Purdy and Mac Jones show their mutual respect
It is common for players vying for the same position to have an underlying rivalry. A quick look at Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson at Cleveland gives you a faint idea. However, for Brock Purdy and Mac Jones, things are quite different.
Jones even said openly how much he admires Purdy during his Tight End University event.
"Brock is awesome," Jones said, "He's a great personality; he's a great guy. I'm always a fan of him. I always have been, and I always will be, because he's the man."
Jones was quite vocal in voicing his appreciation for Purdy. Even the San Francisco GM John Lynch had said the same during his interview with KNBR last year. He called Jones one of the most "self-assured people" on the 49ers roster.
Purdy reciprocated the same feeling towards Jones. Speaking to David Bonilla of 49ers WebZone, Purdy had this to say.
"I think just how efficient he was at quarterback," said Purdy. "If the defense didn't give what we were trying to take and attack, Mac did a good job of getting through his progressions...He manages the game so well and won games at a high level doing it. So definitely learned that component from him."
The San Francisco fans are counting on this chemistry between Jones and Purdy. They have waited for over 20 years now to win a Super Bowl. If Jones can stay as motivated as he is now, the possibilities are endless.
Do you think the 49ers would be this year's wild card in the NFL?
