Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter's early-season spitting incident resurfaced during a Week 4 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield referenced the altercation during an on-field argument.
The exchange, featured in Season 3 of Netflix's Quarterback, saw Mayfield use the prior incident, stemming from a fine for spitting on Dak Prescott, as leverage.
"You still got a spitting problem," Mayfield said.
The moment quickly became one of the more memorable clips from the Netflix series. While Mayfield landed the verbal jab, Philadelphia had the final say on the scoreboard with a 31-25 victory.

"You got to keep couple in the holster, couple in the chamber. However you want to describe it," Mayfield said in the Netflix docuseries. "You better be quick on your feet if you're going to talk trash to me."
Carter's incident against Prescott drew league-wide attention. He was fined $57,222 after being ejected before playing a snap in the season opener.
After the game, Carter admitted he made a mistake.
“It was a mistake that happened on my side, and it just won’t happen again. I feel bad, just for my teammates and the fans out there,” Carter said at that time.
Prescott also addressed the incident afterward, saying he never intended to spit toward Carter before the confrontation escalated.
The Buccaneers and Eagles aren't scheduled to meet during the regular season this year, though a playoff matchup remains possible.
While Mayfield's jabs keep rivalries alive on the field, his fiery competitive edge has earned him just as much respect from opponents across the league.
Baker Mayfield earns ultimate respect from Maxx Crosby
During a recent livestream with influencer N3on on Kick.com, Maxx Crosby looked back at the Raiders' 2024 loss to the Buccaneers. He pointed out how Baker Mayfield somehow escaped what looked like several sure sacks.
"I would say a sleeper one, too, Baker Mayfield. He p***** me off, bro. I had, like, two of them (sacks) I should have had on him,” Crosby said. "Baker is tough, bro. I like Baker."
One of those escapes came inside Tampa Bay's own end zone, where Crosby appeared to have a clear path to a safety before Mayfield slipped away and got rid of the football.
Whether it's extending plays or exchanging words with defenders, Mayfield has built a reputation for playing with confidence. The latest Quarterback episode simply offered another example of the personality that has followed him throughout his NFL career.
Is Baker Mayfield’s fiery personality exactly what the Buccaneers need to make another deep postseason run, or does his trash-talking risk crossing the line? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
