Gone are those days when Shedeur Sanders played in his father, Deion Sanders’ college football team, the Colorado Buffaloes. Coach Prime now has to travel to Cleveland at the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus to get a glimpse of his son. After the visit, Shedeur focused on one priority in his heartfelt reaction.
The Browns’ training camp started on July 28 and will run through August 12. On Thursday, July 30, Deion went to visit his son. While Shedeur was happy to see his father after many weeks, he shared of not letting his emotion take control over him.
“It was good,” Shedeur said in the presser as posted by the Browns’ official YouTube channel on August 1. “I’m overall focused every day by the practice.”

The visit showed a clear change from last year, when Shedeur preferred that his father stay away from his first Cleveland camp to avoid extra attention. This time, though, while the father and son had not seen each other for a long period, Deion paid a visit.
“So the outside, nothing else really matters whenever I’m on the field and that,” Shedeur added in the same presser. “But whenever I’m off the field, of course, I’m excited that I seen my dad. I hadn’t seen him since the summer maybe. But yeah, nothing matters when you’re between the lines.”
So, Shedeur made it clear that he will turn the meeting with his father into motivation to prove himself better this season. As he kept his focus intact, the quarterback took first-team snaps with Deshaun Watson, as they compete to start Cleveland’s Sept. 13 season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Sanders, who was expected to receive all the first-team reps on Saturday for the second time during camp, improved on Friday in terms of cadence and efficiency at the line. Thursday had been a rougher day, with the offense committing nine pre-snap penalties and drawing the frustration of coach Todd Monken.
While Sanders shared how it went to meet his father, Deion also opened up about meeting his son as an important stretch awaits the father-son duo.

As Deion visited the Browns training camp on Day 2, the Well Off Media captured Coach Prime’s reaction.
“This last time I get to see his face, get to hug him, get to touch him. Physical touch is everything. Last time you put your hand on your kid's shoulder, hugged him, kissed him on the jaw, told them you love them. Think about that,” Deion said in a video posted by Well Off Media on YouTube on July 31.
For Coach Prime, the upcoming months are going to be a tough stretch to revive Colorado, which finished the 2025 season with a 3-9 overall record.
Fall camp started Sunday, August 2 for Colorado, and the team will begin its season Sept. 3 against Georgia Tech.
Meanwhile, Shedeur’s future is yet to be confirmed. While ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano predicted Watson to be the Week 1 starter, Monken was not quite pleased with how the veteran performed in the training camp.
“Thought it s*****, that’s no fun, for him or for us on offense,” said the head coach as posted by the Browns’ YouTube channel on July 30.
While the uncertainty looms about Shedeur’s future in the starting role, how do you think Deion’s visit will motivate him? Let us know in the comments.
