The past 10 NFL MVP awards include repeat winners such as Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson, along with first-time winners like Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford.

Here are the rankings based on individual production, achievements and the impact each player had during his MVP season.

10. Josh Allen — 2024

Allen’s first MVP season came from his impact in both phases of the offense. He threw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns, then added 531 rushing yards and 12 rushing scores.

As per an @allsportsculture Instagram post, his six interceptions were a career low, while his 40 total touchdowns capped his most complete season to date.

9. Tom Brady — 2017

Brady was already 40 when he led the NFL with 4,577 passing yards. He added 32 touchdowns and just eight interceptions, showing he could still produce at an elite level late in his career. The MVP win also made him the oldest player to receive the award at that time.

8. Lamar Jackson — 2023

Jackson’s second MVP came with a different statistical profile from his first. He had 3,678 passing yards and 24 touchdowns, plus 821 rushing yards and five rushing scores.

Baltimore finished 13-4 and earned the AFC’s No. 1 seed, with Jackson leading an offense that could hurt defenses in multiple ways.

7. Aaron Rodgers — 2021

Rodgers threw for 4,115 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2021, with just four interceptions all season. His 111.9 passer rating came as Green Bay finished with the NFC’s best record, and he picked up his second straight MVP.

6. Matthew Stafford — 2025

At 37, Stafford put together one of the best late-career seasons by a quarterback. He led the NFL with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns, with only eight interceptions.

Stafford's 109.2 passer rating added to a season that made his MVP win especially notable at his age.

5. Matt Ryan — 2016

Matt Ryan’s 2016 numbers show why he won the award. He passed for 4,944 yards with 38 touchdowns and seven interceptions, finishing with a 117.1 rating.

His 9.3 yards per attempt was the highest in the Super Bowl era, and he led the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl behind one of the NFL’s top offenses.

4. Patrick Mahomes — 2022

Tyreek Hill was gone, but Mahomes’ production barely dropped. He threw for 5,250 yards and 41 touchdowns and added 358 rushing yards. His 5,608 total yards set an NFL record, while he also led the league in passing yards and touchdowns.

3. Lamar Jackson — 2019

Lamar Jackson changed the way a quarterback could impact a game on the ground. Along with 3,127 passing yards and 36 passing touchdowns, he rushed for 1,206 yards and seven scores.

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback broke Michael Vick’s QB rushing record, led the league in passing touchdowns and helped the Ravens finish 14-2. Jackson also became the second unanimous MVP in NFL history.

2. Aaron Rodgers — 2020

In 2020, Rodgers threw for 4,299 yards with 48 touchdowns and just five interceptions, completing more than 70% of his passes along the way.

He finished with a 121.5 passer rating as the Packers went 13-3, and the season ended with Rodgers winning his third MVP.

1. Patrick Mahomes — 2018

Patrick Mahomes made an immediate impact as a first-year full-time starter. His 5,097 passing yards and 50 touchdowns put him in the NFL’s exclusive 5,000-yard, 50-touchdown club.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback also threw 12 interceptions, becoming only the second player in the league to reach both marks in one season.

Each MVP season on this list had something special, from Mahomes’ record-setting numbers to Jackson’s dual-threat play, setting a high bar for whoever wins the award in 2026.
