After attending Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's wedding at Madison Square Garden earlier this month, Pat McAfee shared a positive update on Patrick Mahomes' knee recovery.

During Monday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee shared the news that the Kansas City Chiefs are getting ready for training camp later this month. Mahomes' recovery remains the team's biggest focus.

"I know he was injured last year. And I don't want to give away too much stuff breaking from the wedding,” McAfee said. "Patrick Mahomes is in the middle of the dance floor. How could you not be, with everything that's going on?"

Mahomes took part in the team’s activities and worked out for 7-8 hours to be back on the field. And now, McAfee doubled down with what he saw at the wedding.

"I'm telling you, he looked good. He was dancing. I saw his a** dancing." McAfee said on the  Pat McAfee Show.

During last week's episode of ESPN's NFL Live, Adam Schefter reported that Mahomes is on track to return for the Chiefs' Week 1 opener against the Denver Broncos.

"He's obviously, in the Chiefs' opinion, ahead of schedule and sounds like he's tracking to be ready for that Monday night opener. The real question will be not whether he plays, but how effective he'll be coming off that ACL that he tore in December," Schefter said on ESPN's NFL Live.

He added that the bigger question is not whether Mahomes will play, but how effective he will be after recovering from his ACL and LCL injuries, which he suffered in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers last December.

Schefter said Mahomes is ahead of schedule and making continuous progress in his rehab.

The injury takes 9-12 months to heal. In September, Mahomes will be in his ninth month of recovery.

The Chiefs added Justin Fields this offseason and drafted rookie QB Garrett Nussmeier to strengthen the quarterback room, but Mahomes' recovery remains the focus of the team as camp approaches in late July.

Training camp will offer the clearest test of Patrick Mahomes' recovery

The Kansas City Chiefs will return to Missouri Western State University for their 16th training camp at the club. As the camp kicks off on July 29, coaches have carefully increased Patrick Mahomes' workload as the QB is showing immense signs of recovery.

"It seems like Mahomes is exceeding any expectations for his recovery,” Jazmyne Martinez of Athlon Sports wrote. “Following minicamp, he signed a two-year contract extension, proving Kansas City's confidence in their QB1."

Head coach Andy Reid has shown confidence, but he has taken a careful approach during the offseason. The Chiefs will continue to monitor Mahomes closely when training camp begins.

"The healing process has to keep taking place," Reid said in the press conference in June. "He gets periodic checks, but he's been working close with Julie on the rehab part of it. Then he comes out and practices — he does rehab before practice, comes to practice, then goes after practice."

Every practice will now provide another clue about Kansas City's plans. Will Mahomes' progress continue to point toward a full return when Week 1 finally arrives? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
