Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady are trending after a viral NFL on DAZN post sparked a statistical firestorm. Fans quickly debunked a graphic claiming Mahomes holds the highest winning percentage in league history.
The debate centers on a faulty game-minimum qualifier that ignores Tom Brady's unprecedented longevity. The post cited Mahomes with a 76.2% winning percentage ahead of Daryle Lamonica’s 74.8% and Tom Brady’s 74.7%.
"Patrick Mahomes has the highest winning percentage by a quarterback in NFL HISTORY," NFL on DAZN posted on X.
The post included a “minimum 200 games” qualifier, but Mahomes has played only 126 career games, per Statmuse, so he doesn’t even meet the threshold set. Brady is the only player on the list with more than 200 games played.
Official data from Statmuse and Pro Football Reference contradicts the numbers presented in the viral post.
The original stats are Mahomes with a 75.4% winning percentage (95 wins, 31 losses), ahead of Daryle Lamonica’s 77% (108 wins, 33 losses, 10 ties) and Tom Brady’s 74.9% (251 wins, 81 losses).
Mahomes reached that mark in 126 games across nine seasons, while Brady did it over 335 games and 23 seasons, which adds important context when comparing careers across different eras. Meanwhile, Daryle Lamonica played 151 career games over 12 seasons.
Those who support Brady cited the faulty qualifier as proof that the stat was cooked in Mahomes’ favor. Mahomes’ supporters said no quarterback has ever started his career this efficiently.
But once fans started commenting, the discussion quickly spiralled beyond the stat itself.
Brady vs Mahomes Debate Turns Into A Fact-Check
The DAZN post might have been meant to celebrate Mahomes, but fans had other ideas. Once live, the comments shifted focus away from Mahomes to challenge the graphic's accuracy.
"Neither buy above Brady reach the 200 game minimum you list," said one fan.
Brady is the only player in the graphic who actually meets the stated threshold.
"This is wrong. Brady is 286-95 (.751)," said another.
One of the fans pointed out a data error in Brady’s record, further adding to an already inconsistent post.
"Why is Mahomes included in this stat with only 147 games?" read another reaction.
By any measure, it’s not a fair measure of peak efficiency over 126 games, which is even less than the number the fan wrote vs sustained dominance over 335.
"Brady played in almost 400 games… " It's really Brady fr," commented another fan.
Brady’s winning percentage of 74.9% in 335 games is still the most volume-backed mark in NFL history, per Statmuse.
"He's reaching 40+ Ls this season," was another reaction.
Suggesting Mahomes’ percentage will naturally decline as his career extends, making the current comparison even less meaningful.
The graphic kicked off the real conversation, but for many fans, the flawed qualifier tainted the whole point before the debate even began.
