Mike Vrabel shared an optimistic message with the New England Patriots. The message was shared by quarterback Drake Maye when he stood up for his head coach amidst off-field controversies.
According to USA Today’s Chris Bumbaca, Drake Maye shared the message received by the Patriots, suggesting that Vrabel is willing to work on his issues while also trying not to let the Patriots down in the process.
“With my family, the organization, the coaches, the players. Those have been positive and productive. We believe in order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions.” Vrabel said.
“That includes me. That starts with me. We never want our actions to negatively affect the team. You never want to be the cause of a distraction,” the Patriots HC had insisted.

After Page Six published photos of Mike Vrabel and NFL reporter Dianna Russini together, rumors quickly started swirling about whether Vrabel had been unfaithful to his wife.
Both Vrabel and Russini denied the infidelity rumors. But after Russini left The Athletic, Vrabel eventually addressed the controversy himself, taking “personal accountability.”
On the other side, Vrabel’s wife, Jen Vrabel, is reportedly quite unhappy with the media attention cast upon her personal life..
“Jen is p*****, embarrassed, and horrified that this is her life right now. To live through this in the public eye, being judged by friends and family, being judged by people she has never met. It is a nightmare,” a source told the Daily Mail.
However, it seems she is willing to give him another chance. Vrabel is attending counseling with his wife, which even caused him to miss the final day of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Drake Maye continues to support his coach. The QB is confident that Vrabel's personal issue will not affect the Patriots on the field.
Drake Maye Has Shown Confidence In HC Mike Vrabel
During the Truist Championship Pro-Am, Maye was paired with PGA Tour pro Gary Woodland. Upon being asked whether he believed Vrabel’s controversies would have any negative effects on the Patriots’ performance, Maye gave an optimistic response.
“No, I don’t. I mean, he’s our head coach. I think he’s done a great job of talking to us and talking us through it. I’m just looking forward to getting back to work and getting ready,” he said via the Associated Press.
“I know he's got the right mindset, and I know he's a great human being,” Maye revealed. “I think he's ... like I said, I love playing for him.”
The two-time AP NFL Coach of the Year, Vrabel, has proven to be a strong mentor for several years, leading the Patriots to a 14-3 record and Super Bowl LX during his first year as their head coach.
Furthermore, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye had a breakout year last season. Under Vrabel's guidance, he recorded 4,394 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. So his confidence in Vrabel’s playmaking and mentorship makes sense.
