The quarterback drama in the Cleveland Browns is far from over, and the competition between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders remains active. However, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy dissociates himself from the controversy.

In a recent report published by ESPN, Browns WR Jerry Jeudy pushed back against the viral TikTok gesture of flashing “four fingers” that made him the center of the chatter, as many took it to suggest he wanted Watson as his QB1.

“yall cut the clip perfectly for that narrative,” Jeudy wrote in another post to X. “Y’all can never get in between this s*** lol.”

According to ESPN, Browns WR Jeudy showed four fingers on a livestream, which many in the NFL community took as the WR rooting for jersey No. 4 Deshaun Watson.

Jeudy fired back at media outlets for twisting the clip.

"I don't speak on decisions that aren't mine to make. I support my teammates/Brothers, I do my job and control what I can control," Jeudy wrote in another post to X. "Let's stop creating narratives that aren't there for likes and clicks. I bet this won't go viral because it's too positive/real for y'all."

Jeudy made it clear that he wasn't trying to send a message about Cleveland's quarterback competition.

Instead, he emphasized that such decisions are outside ‌his control and reiterated his focus on supporting every player in the locker room.

With his statements on the controversy, Jerry Jeudy attempted to put an end to the speculation. Even after he closed the controversy on his end, the Browns are again predicted to trade their QB.

Crowded Browns' QB room fuels trade speculation

After a history of trading quarterbacks, the Cleveland Browns are again at the center of the conversation for a potential trade of QB Dillon Gabriel ahead of the 2026 NFL season, per ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi.

"For a second consecutive year, the Browns not only have to sort out a competition in training camp but must decide what to do with their four passers," ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi writes. "Watson and Sanders took the bulk of the reps during the spring, while 2025 third-round pick Dillon Gabriel typically received the remaining reps.” 

Back in the day, the Browns traded Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco. But with the signing of Taylen Green, the Browns' QB depth is already crowded, and per Oyefusi, it is fair to trade out Dillon.

“Green, the Browns' sixth-round pick this year, is viewed as a developmental prospect, but the Browns are bullish on his upside,” he added. “Like last season, a trade to bring the quarterback room to three entering the regular season seems to be a likely outcome."

With this trade prediction in place, the competition between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders for the QB1 spot stays.
