Jalen Hurts Clears Feelings on A.J. Brown After Skipping His Wedding

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and WR A.J. Brown

Jalen Hurts’ bond with A.J. Brown goes far beyond the boundaries of a football field, to the point that Brown made Hurts his daughter’s godfather and was thrilled when Hurts joined the Eagles. But they seemed to have hit a rough patch.

Hurts’ absence at Brown’s wedding was especially conspicuous, fueling speculation about Browns moving to the Patriots. But the QB has recently tried to clear the air, calling his friendship with Brown "really good."

During a pre-OTAs Eagles press conference on May 28, Jalen Hurts was asked about how Philadelphia’s offense would be affected if A.J. Brown was traded. Hurts’ response was diplomatic but honest.

“You know, I think for us, um, you know, we're we're focused on learning the offense. It really doesn't change in terms of our approach to improve,” Hurts said.

He acknowledged that Brown has been crucial to the Eagles’ offense, saying, “But you know, nothing can replace all the greatness that we achieved together.”

As the discussion moved on to where the two players currently stood in terms of their friendship, Hurts stated that they had last spoken at the end of the previous season. He then directly referenced Brown’s wedding, complimenting their wedding photos.

“Nothing's changed since we last spoke at the end of the season. We're really good and I saw how beautiful the pictures came out at his wedding,” said Hurts.

The Eagles quarterback didn’t specify why he had not been in attendance but congratulated the new couple on their marriage, saying, “I'm very happy for him and his wife and his family and um, it's a beautiful thing to step into covenant. So, I was very excited and congratulatory towards that.”

However, Jalen Hurts kept mum regarding A.J. Brown’s future with Philadelphia, prompting many to wonder if there was any merit to the trade speculation surrounding the wide receiver. And that made many fans wonder, what exactly went wrong between A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts?

What Led To Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown’s Falling-Out?

The Eagles’ wide receiver and quarterback forged a strong friendship over the years, starting with their college days. In fact, the duo's on-field dynamic made waves in the NFL community after Brown joined Philadelphia in 2022.

But the WR repeatedly expressed frustration over the Eagles’ offensive tactics during the 2025 season, which led to a falling out with the team's quarterback.

According to ESPN’s Tim McManus and Jeremy Fowler, the two have kept things professional despite their differing opinions.

Per McManus and Fowler, ““Multiple team sources say they never saw Brown and Hurts engaged in an argument during the season and were professional throughout the season,” McManus and Fowler stated.

According to insider sources, the problem seems to have stemmed from a breakdown in communication, even if there were no real arguments.

“But both also tend to internalize issues, which leads to a lack of communication, sources said. ‘Clearing the air probably doesn’t happen as often as it should,’ a source said,” the insider told McManus and Fowler.

Do you think Brown and Hurts will make peace with each other? Or is this the end of Brown's journey with the Eagles? Let us know in the comments.
