Jacoby Brissett is returning to the Arizona Cardinals facility. The veteran quarterback is expected to report to mandatory minicamp this week, per ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss and Jeremy Fowler. This is his first time since contract negotiations completely derailed the offseason program.
Brissett had been absent from the voluntary portions of the offseason program, including OTAs, as contract talks moved along. A non-waivable fine of around $107,911 would have been levied if he had missed the whole session.
Brissett is locked into a $4.88 million 2026 base salary, $1.5 million guaranteed, set when he was a backup. After his impressive 2025 campaign, Brissett’s camp is asking for a new deal as he is expected to be Arizona’s starting QB.

Brissett had a breakout year in 2025, throwing a career-high 3,366 yards, 23 TDs, and just 8 interceptions in 12 games.
LaFleur even stated he is the ‘leader in the clubhouse.’ The other QBs on the roster are Gardner Minshew and 2023 3rd-round pick Carson Beck.
With training camp set for the middle of July, the timing of Brissett's return advances his position as the leading candidate to direct Arizona's offense when the season commences. That being said, Brissett is not the only Cardinal ‘returning to the fold.’
Sean Murphy-Bunting Returns to the Nickel Corner Role for the Arizona Cardinals
After suffering an ACL and MCL injury in May 2025, Sean Murphy-Bunting was sidelined for the entire season.
Fast forward to now, and Murphy-Bunting has taken on a new role as the nickel corner. This is primarily due to Garrett Williams’ late-season Achilles injury.
"Obviously, watching football from the sideline being on the field and being able to actually play is completely different. It's adversity. I dealt with what I dealt with, but to battle back, it's exciting to be out there," Murphy-Bunting said on the Cardinals' official website.
The slot is a comfortable place for him. As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' nickel corner for 2019 through 2022, Murphy-Bunting spent 1,104 snaps in the slot, logging 87 tackles, 7 interceptions, and a forced fumble, in addition to a Super Bowl LV championship.
"Nickel is a hybrid of everything. Being a playmaker and being a ball guy and always having forced fumbles and interceptions in my career, I'm closer to the action, and it helps me be more of a complete ball player,” Murphy-Bunting added.
Defensive coordinator Nick Rallis said it made sense to keep Murphy-Bunting inside since that is where he feels most comfortable with his experience.
The Cardinals are confident in the outside corner positions being filled by Will Johnson, Denzel Burke, and Max Melton.
