As the Brendan Sorsby saga comes to an end, the former Red Raiders star quarterback took a heavy beating from the fans over his decision to head to the NFL supplemental draft.

As reported by ESPN insider Pete Thamel, Brendan Sorsby has surrendered his collegiate football eligibility to make his way to the NFL’s supplemental draft amid the gambling row.

His decision comes within the Texas court’s ruling in his favor, where the judge in Lubbock County granted him a temporary injunction over the NCAA investigation.

Per the football pundits, Sorsby had two options at his disposal: either wait till the NCAA’s investigation comes to an end with a probable decision of putting a lifetime ban on him or give up his collegiate career to head to the NFL.

Based on the insights from an insider, Brendan Sorsby had been fighting the system, per Matt Hayes of USA Today.

It has been a long time since he came out about betting on his own team before his transfer to Texas Tech.

Based on the NCAA code of conduct, he completed a 35-day inpatient rehab for his gambling addiction, and still, the authorities from the associations were behind him amid the controversy.

For helping Sorsby, Texas Tech also came under heavy fire from fellow universities, as they announced they would boycott all the scheduled matches with Texas Tech.

In a mutual decision taken by Sorsby and the Red Raiders, they decided to mutually part ways, as it is the only viable option available at this point.

Indeed, the decision will leave a big void in the Raiders' roster, but this is not the only concern here. The fans are not taking the decision well, as they have flooded‌ social media with heavy reactions.

Fans Rip Brendan Sorsby Over Supplemental Draft Decision

Brendan Sorsby’s decision to leave collegiate football to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft did not sit well with the fans.

During the post-controversy time, the fans voiced their frustration across social media platforms.

Some fans blamed both Sorsby and Texas Tech over the controversy.

One fan wrote, “Texas Tech sacrifices their credibility, and the gambler jumps ship on them lol,” arguing that the quarterback’s departure left the program carrying the fallout from the controversy.

Others believed the NFL should take disciplinary action against Sorsby before allowing him to enter the league. “Whichever team selects him and he makes the roster, the @NFL needs to suspend him for the year,” one user posted.

Another took an even harsher stance, writing, “The NFL should rule him ineligible to play for five years.”

Questions also surfaced about how NFL teams might view the situation, as the NCAA was behind Sorsby with its strictly no-tolerance policy against gambling in young athletes.

“Awesome. Now the next question is, will an NFL program want this side show in their locker room?” one fan asked, expressing concerns about potential distractions.

The reactions showed that while Sorsby may have moved on from the NCAA battle, many fans remain unconvinced that his path to the NFL will be an easy one.
