Fresh off being unveiled as the cover star of Madden 27 at an EA Sports event, Caleb Williams sparked a frenzy among the NFL world when he was asked the name of the greatest quarterback of all time.
“Brady. When you go seven Super Bowls…there’s not anybody close. And so it gets hard to debate that. I put Brady as number one, and for me, Aaron Rodgers is probably number two,” said Caleb Williams, told Heavy Sports.
Many critics have placed Aaron Rodgers in the top 10, and even the top five, of all-time quarterback rankings, but Caleb Williams naming him second is a bold take.
Surprisingly, Rodgers was chosen over Peyton Manning, the only player with more MVP awards (5) than the veteran quarterback. What is also interesting about this take is that Williams plays for the Bears, the longtime archrivals of the Green Bay Packers.
Rodgers made his name and played the best years of his career with the Packers over 18 seasons. In fact, Rodgers built a reputation for routinely tormenting the Bears throughout his career, even winning a Super Bowl for the franchise in the process.

Making a case for Rodgers, his numbers are not something to underestimate. He has more than 66,000 passing yards, 527 touchdown passes, and the lowest interception percentage in NFL history.
That’s not all, Aaron holds one of the NFL’s most decorated resumes, highlighted by a Super Bowl XLV victory, four NFL MVP awards, four First-Team All-Pro selections, and 10 Pro Bowl nods. That said, there is another reason behind his choosing Aaron Rodgers.
Why Aaron Rodgers Earned Caleb Williams’ No. 2 Spot?
It’s hardly any surprise that Williams holds Rodgers in such regard. Why? That’s because growing up, he was a Rodgers fan.
“Growing up... (you) realize how hard it is to play this position, you admire some of the things he’s been able to do over the long career he has had. The way he’s been able to spin the ball and put the ball in different places,” Williams said as per Marquee Sports Network.
That said, the Bears quarterback has developed a game that mirrors several of the veteran's traits, such as creative off-platform throws, the ability to improvise under pressure, and a knack for extending broken plays
“There’s probably only a couple of quarterbacks in the world that have been able to spin the ball the way that he does,” said Williams.
