Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is coming back from an ankle injury. The injury was sustained during the Broncos' overtime win against the Buffalo Bills in January 2026. Since then, he has been through medical procedures and returned to practice in June.
That brings us to 2026, with a divisional rival opener where the Broncos will have high hopes for Nix. The quarterback returned to the Broncos' practice field for mandatory minicamp in June. He shared with reporters that the doctors gave him a clean bill of health.
"Well, my concern is they say it's back healthy, as good as new, and I hadn't really been like that in a couple years," Nix said as per the Denver Broncos. "So, my concern is maybe moving around a little bit better."

On the bright side, the Denver Broncos report also noted that the head coach, Sean Payton, expects Nix to be a participant in the training camp.
Thus far, Nix has played 34 games for Denver and started in each one of them as the team's first-choice quarterback. He has totaled over 7,000 yards in his two seasons with 54 passing TDs. With a 64.8 passing percentage, he has been the team's backbone.
He is also the second quarterback in franchise history to throw three touchdown passes in a postseason win.
Nix also became part of an exclusive club as he joined the likes of Peyton Manning and Justin Herbert to become the only three quarterbacks in NFL history with over 3,500 passing yards in their first two seasons.
Now, the Broncos are inching closer toward full football mode, with veterans officially set to report for training camp on July 28. The first open practice is scheduled for July 31, while public sessions are expected to run through August 19.
However, it's not just Nix who will be key to the Broncos' attacking play. Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, too, will be crucial to the offense. Nix is already impressed with Waddle's abilities.

Jaylen Waddle was brought in with one purpose: to provide his explosive playmaking abilities to help out Bo Nix. So far, from what Nix has seen of Waddle, he is visibly impressed.
"He's extremely fast with the ball in his hands," said Nix, as per Broncoswire, "He looks like he doesn't really slow down to make cuts, which is pretty tough to do for a fast guy. He's just going to add an element of relief for everybody else and take a little bit of the touches so that other guys don't have to take them all."
Waddle is expected to augment Bo Nix's game even further. The 27-year-old has already had three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in his early years. Now, Waddle joined the Broncos back in March courtesy of a blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins.
With a new respected receiver, perhaps Nix, too, could have his first 30-passing-touchdown season in 2026.
So will this be Denver's year where they win their fourth Super Bowl?
