The NFL and Brendan Sorsby's representatives have reached a settlement following the quarterback's unsuccessful bid to enter the 2026 Supplemental Draft. The agreement now makes Sorsby eligible for the 2027 NFL Draft.
The insider Ian Rapoport recently confirmed that a memo was sent to all the NFL clubs. Brendan Sorsby is now eligible to apply for the 2027 NFL Draft.
“For purposes of League and CBA rules, Mr. Sorsby will be considered a 'Draft-Eligible' player for the 2027 NFL Draft. Mr. Sorsby will not be eligible to sign an NFL Player Contract until the completion of the 2027 NFL Draft,” wrote Rapoport on his latest X post.
Rapoport also confirmed that Sorsby and the NFLPA have agreed to drop any further legal action, with the player now set to focus on preparing for the 2027 NFL Draft instead.
Sorsby walks away from the settlement with his pre-draft pathway intact, cleared to attend the Senior Bowl, hold a pro day, and take team visits, according to Ian Rapoport, as per Bobby Kownack of NFL.com.
The NFL is drawing a line under his college g****** record, which saw him place bets totaling at least $90,000 across stints at colleges, but the league isn't closing the book entirely. It reserves the right to dig deeper into his conduct and can hold his past against him if he ever finds himself in trouble again.
While the agreement puts an end to months of uncertainty, Sorsby released a statement to focus on recovery from addictive gambling.

Sorsby applied for the supplemental draft in June 2026, which was denied by the NFL. This led to a legal dispute between Sorsby’s representatives and the NFL.
"I did not have control of my g******* problem, and it took getting caught for me to realize that, but it was truly the best thing that could've happened to me," posted Brendan Sorsby on his official Instagram account. "Because of this, I have been able to get the help I need and fully focus on my recovery."
In April, Sorsby entered treatment for g******* addiction after admitting to placing a wager on Indiana while playing for the program, violating NCAA rules. Sorsby admitted his conduct and said that he will now focus on his recovery and development.
Across his college career at Indiana and Cincinnati, he threw for more than 7,200 passing yards with 60 touchdown passes. Last year, he threw for 2,800 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and just five interceptions, earning Second-Team All-Big 12 honors.
